Personal Interest
At this time, I'm not very available to actively mentor anyone or be heavily involved in the Alumni group. But in the day-to-day, I'm passionate about helping others feel safe belonging. As Brené Brown puts it: “Fitting in is about assessing a situation and becoming who you need to be to be accepted. Belonging, on the other hand, doesn’t require us to change who we are; it requires us to be who we are.” In my free time, I write a lot along these lines and share my voice on social media, inviting others to feel safe. I'm just about to start medical school and I am still just as anxious and self-doubting as I was way before I was accepted. I want students to understand that this personality trait likely never goes away. What can change is our confidence in our ability to manage it sustainably. That's the stuff I love tapping into...
