Personal Interest
I am passionate about public health, specifically infectious disease epidemiology in low-income nations. My passion for public health stems from my upbringing and the research I did as an undergraduate student at the University of Iowa. Being apart of the LSAMP program as an undergraduate student, I learned so much from going to the conferences and building networks that helped me become the researcher I am today.

Past Research
I worked as an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Kelly Baker’s lab in Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Iowa College of Public Health. As an undergraduate researcher, I worked on a personal project, “Understanding Pathogen Persistence in Soil Through a Terrarium Experiment.” I also assisted a Ph.D. student in his dissertation work about “Evaluation of DNA/RNA extraction kits for the measurement of enteric pathogens in common Kenyan Weaning Foods.” I also got the opportunity to study abroad to do injury prevention research in Armenia for a whole summer through the University of Iowa Minority Health and Health Disparities International Research Training (MHIRT) program.
